His rise continued as he served as the Vice Chairman of the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation and later as Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly in 2017. One of Dr. Sawant’s flagship initiatives is Swayampurna Goa, a program aimed at ensuring selfreliance and empowering communities. By deploying Swayampurna Mitras- government officers stationed in every village, this initiative ensures that citizens benefit from government schemes and services. The success of this program led to Swayampurna Goa 2.0, which focuses on skill development, reskilling, and job creation, driving economic growth across the state.
Education is central to Dr. Sawant’s vision. Under his leadership, over 672 government schools have been modernised, and programs like coding and robotics have been introduced to empower over 65,000 students. The introduction of the New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 further ensures Goa’s educational standards align with global trends, making students futureready.
In infrastructure, Dr. Sawant has overseen transformative projects such as the New Zuari Bridge and Manohar International Airport, bolstering Goa’s connectivity.
